KJSMC launches NABL accredited virology (molecular) laboratory

Diagnostic Virology Laboratory Is being set up in the Department of Microbiology with BSL – 2 level biosafety cabinet in 680 sq.ft. area which is the standard requirement as per the MCI norms. K.J. Somaiya Medical College and Hospital molecular laboratory is NABL Accredited and ICMR approved for COVID -19 RT-PCR testing for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2. The virology laboratory consists of donning and doffing room, RNA extraction, template addition, master mix, PCR rooms and autoclave for disposal of biomedical waste.
